Davis fires 244 in Martinich final

Kathy Davis burned the lanes with a 244 game, besting Billie Schaff’s 162 in their championship game of the Jeanette Martinich 160-and-Over women’s bowling tournament completed recently in Butte.

Davis was the top seed in the finals after totaling 55.03 Peterson Points through the preliminary rounds. The fourth-seeded Schaff won three matches to reach the championship faceoff with Davis. Schaff defeated fifth-seeded Kalee Tripp 225-167, third-seeded Diann Hall 206-192 and second-seeded Sherry Sullivan 196-172.

Hall shot some big scores, including tournament highs of 288 for a game and 648 for a three-game series.

The highly competitive meet saw 26 games of 200 or higher bowled, and four 600 series shot.

Qualifiers’ standings after the prelims follow, with the top five earning advancement to the stepladder finals.
