Medina tops Martinich tournament

The 26th annual Jeanette Martinich 160 Average & Over bowling tournament was held recently at the King Pin Lanes and Star Lanes and saw fourth-seeded Terri Medina climb the stepladder for a victory.

Medina defeated top qualifier Autumn Butori 220-176 in the championship head-to-head match.

The stepladder finals started with Medina topping No. 5 seed Kristie Piazzola 227-159. Medina then knocked off third-seeded Shana Fortune 220-157 and upended second-seeded Debbie Matule 217-193 to set up the championship showdown with Butori.

The tournament saw 20 women bowlers from Butte competing in a head-to-head competition over two days. The tournament saw 46 games of 200 or better, with the high game of 257 hit by Butori. There were four series of 600 or higher with Kalee Tripp bowling the highest series, a 651.
