Edelen rolls to win in Meagor Classic By The Standard Staff - 12/13/2007

Todd Edelen rolled a sizzling 298 in the championship game to capture the 2007 edition of the Bill Meagor Scratch Classic bowling tournament held recently at King Pin and Star Lanes.

Edelen dominated the tournament, averaging a sensational 240 pins over 12 games and winning 11 of 12 matches. After the dozen match games, Edelen was in first, followed by Keith Meagor, Bill Keller, Dave Martinich Jr. and Eddie Zimpel Jr.

After stepladder matches featuring the lower seed challenging the upper seed, the places remained the same at the tournament’s conclusion.

The 2007 Classic featured youth participants for the first time, as teenagers Zimpel, Denton Martinich and Zac Wooten finished in the top 10 and received scholarship money. Martinich’s 278 was the high game rolled during match play.

Laurie Tripp, last year’s fifth-place finisher, again led all women entrants, this year finishing 10th.
